Mike Casey :: Random thoughts on Startups

GradConnection is taking over the lease from Tjoos in the coming weeks and we plan to create a very informal incubator where a number of small to medium sized start ups share office space, ideas and grow together.

I’m pretty excited about it, as we will have a few new startups coming in with members who are experts in

• International Outsourcing
• Hosting
• Web Marketing
• Programming
• Sales

The goal is simple, to outgrow the space. Then perhaps we look for something bigger and better.

Yesterday I had a coffee with two seperate budding entreprenuers, one was just about to finish up at university, and the other was slightly older and is just finishing up at his full time job to start his own company.

I could tell, straight away, that these guys both had what it takes. A few simple reasons

• The both were out talking to people and building relationships before they had done much towards their companies
• They were both getting on the phones
• They understood the difficulties of starting a company
• Neither were heavily motivated by money
• The passion was in the problem they were trying to solve

Good luck Alex and David, you guys are going to kick some ass one day!
